Teemu Selanne recovered a Detroit turnover in the first overtime period and shoveled a backhand past Dominik Hasek to win Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, 2-1.
The Ducks almost didn’t make it. With 48 seconds left in regulation and on a power play (plus, an extra man when Jean-Sebastien Giguere was pulled), the Ducks evened it up with a Scott Niedermayer shot. Detroit sure had the advantage nearing the end of the third.
With the win, the Ducks come home for Game 6 Tuesday night and have a chance to close out the series with a victory and meet the Ottawa Senators in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Go Ducks!
