Just wanted to share with you a video that Lance Armstrong made earlier today regarding his recent clavical surgery.  As a former competitive cyclist, my interest in cycling started well before Lance’s Tour de France victories.  In fact, it was the 1984 Olympic games that inspired my interest in the sport and to this day I still follow the happenings…

As a former cyclist and seeing one of the sports that I love fall apart due to drug scandals, I love this awesome idea and decided to write about it.

With a recent rider (Riccardo Ricco) getting caught in this year’s Tour de France for using an enhancement drug, I was happy to hear that the pharmaceutical company that manufactured the drug (CEPO), added a molecule that could be detected by the testing procedures used in the Tour.

It sure sounds like a thing out of science fiction and I hope all drug companies are doing this to ensure that these medications are used in the way they were designed and not for the cheats that want to excel in sports.

Notch one up for the drug company who did this, WADA and the Tour.

I sure hope this opens the eyes of all athletes that it’s not beneficial to cheat yourself and potentially your career for something more important.

You will get caught…

Alberto Contador (Spain) riding for Team Discovery Channel won this year’s Tour de France amid several busts for illegal use of drugs and boosting. Australia’s Cadel Evans was second (23 seconds behind) and Levi Leipheimer (USA, also with Team Discovery Channel) was third (31 seconds behind Contador. It was probably the closest the top three has finished in Tour history.

It was a strange second half of the Tour when Alexandre Vinokourov and Michael Rasmussen were tossed from the Tour for doping and suspicious reasons, respectively.

A noted plus, Team Discovery Channel exceeded expectations by taking two of the three podium spots with many teammates finishing in the top 30!

Hopefully, with what has been learned from this year’s Tour, the sport can continue it’s cleanup of riders who attempt to cheat the system and themselves. I’m looking forward to next year’s Tour.

After a series of major crackdowns on cheating during this Tour, Alberto Contador is now in yellow.  Riding for Team Discovery Channel and with great team support, it’s going to be difficult to topple this future champion.  Only the final, and decisive, time trial on Saturday could hinder his path to winning this year’s Tour.  Go get ‘em, Alberto!  You deserve it the most.

Just turned on my computer and had to post this. What a shocker of a Tour this has been!!! I’m totally at a loss for words but am happier that organizers are doing something about cheating. I’m sure more information will present itself in the morning. Sorry about the short post but check out the following links for clarification. I hate to repeat information that’s already been made public.

Because of this newly unfolded event, Alberto Contador is the race leader with Levi Leipheimer in third overall. Both are teammates on Team Discovery Channel and face the possibility of stepping on the podium this Sunday in Paris! What an odd stage of events this Tour has presented…
