While preparing my students for their final exams today I realized that another school year is about to end.  Wow!  I can’t believe I’m about to complete my 12th year of teaching.  It was certainly challenging at first but now the years seem to tick by rather quickly.  Is it because I’m getting older or have I established a routine that’s reduced my stresses?  Or, perhaps is it a combo of both?  Oh, well.

As a hockey fan, congratulations go out to the Pittsburgh Penguins for winning the Stanley Cup on Friday night!  I’m so glad for them, not only because I wanted the Red Wings to lose, but more for a couple former Ducks on the team.  Congrats to coach Dan Bylsma and Chris Kunitz who was traded this season to the Pens at the trade deadline.  You guys did a great job and put on a great show!

Now, switching gears…

I tweeted last night about my disgust of the actions of a few people “celebrating” the Lakers win of the NBA title by setting things on fire, flipping cars over, etc.  They’re actions were idiotic and I’m hoping the appropriate punishment will be handed to them to the fullest!  I’m saying this as a fan of sports in general that there is no place for this kind of idiotic behavior.  It’s just shear craziness to see people participating in outright destruction of other people’s property.  I’m not a Laker hater, they’re a great team and I congratulate them for their victory, but fans need to know how to behave appropriately with respect to others and not just themselves. These “fan”atics should represent themselves in a positive manner and not act negatively as they did last night.

Ok, I’m done with that rant…

(deep breath, exhale…)

Now, on a more enjoyable note, my son did very well with his Senior Red Belt test in Taekwondo last Friday night! Also, he participated in his Kindergarten presentation on Thursday as well… I took video during both events and should have something up later for everyone to view.

Well, I think that’s about all for now.  When I think of more things to say, I’ll do my best in posting them here or if it’s short, I’ll tweet it on Twitter.

Take care and have a great week!

I know it’s been a while since my last “serious” post, so here goes.

Most of my recent updates have been tweeted (on Twitter) since it’s been a busy time for me lately and I haven’t had much time to sit down and type something up, etc.  So, if you’re really wanting to keep up with my happenings, you can follow me on Twitter!

Another school year is wrapping up and preparations for summer school and summer activities are rolling forward.

Hockey season is nearly over (yes, I’m an avid hockey fan) and my Anaheim Ducks were eliminated a while ago in the playoffs.  “There’s always next year” seems to be a common phrase for Ducks and Cubs fans alike.  We’re use to it… Go Pens!

Daniel’s last day of kindergarten is tomorrow and he’s been practicing for their final presentation!  I’m sure they’ll do well and enjoy what’s coming up for summer!  Friday, is his taekwondo promotion test for his senior red belt!  It’s hard to believe he’s progressed so far and we’re amazed at his dedication and commitment in moving forward.  Black belt is just around the corner!

After much debate, I recently purchased an iPod and am truely amazed by it.  Guess I’ve been living in the dark ages when it comes to music lately, but I’m glad to reconnect with my tunes from the past and to explore new ones, too.  My entire cd collection can now be carried around with me and I’ve tapered off my spending on Amazon to get my library to where I want it.  Now, it’s just a purchase of an album once in a while and I’m good to go!  I’m rockin’!  (BTW, the Genius feature is genius!)

I’m still working on the backyard and still want to get some grass planted.  Once my dog sitting duty is completed in a couple weeks (hopefully), that’ll be a priority of mine this summer.  Daniel and I have started cultivating flowers and he seems to enjoy “gardening”…

That’s about all for now.  Take care and stay tuned for another update sometime in the more near future.  Be healthy and out of trouble!

This morning Dan and I decided it was time to transplant a few seedlings of Marigolds and Zinnias we planted a few weeks ago into larger pots.  Although we didn’t get them all done due to lack of interest in someone who shall remain nameless :) , we intend to get them completed sometime later in the week!  Here’s a pic from our activity.
